@SFUVan Profile: DD Kugler

If you’ve ever been involved with the Theatre Area of the SFU’s School for the Contemporary (SCA) Arts, chances are you’ve crossed paths with DD Kugler. Currently serving a three-year term as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Communication, Art, and Technology, Kugler is a professor as well as a freelance director and dramaturg (an individual who writers or adapts plays).

The summer typically marks a research semester for many SCA professors, Kugler included and he has a number of  projects to keep him busy.

Kugler wasn’t always involved in theatre, and describes his foray into the art as being “quite late in the game.” Starting out his education in English literature but changing his mind, Kugler decided to pursue other interests in Nova Scotia for 10 years, before coming to theatre through community theatre programs.
