By Andrea Sanchez - SFU Student Life Vancouver

Student Life at SFU Vancouver hosted a very exciting event and would love to share it with the rest of the SFU Community. Wednesday, June 27, marked the first ever Student Life 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament!

Students from various faculties participated in the event at the basketball hoop at the Westbank Woodwards Atrium. There were students from the Masters in Business Administration at the Segal Graduate School of Business, the Masters in Public Policy, the World Literature program, representatives from Edu Africa at SFU, and other amazing undergrad students.

We also had the opportunity to engage people from the community who came to play during the breaks, and other spectators who were interested in knowing more about this exciting, new SFU event.

This tournament would not have been possible without the help and support from lots of people and organizations. We would like to thank Peter Campion for facilitating the use of this public space as well as creating a friendly and engaging environment in the area. We would also like to thank Mike Paré and Nesters Market for all their in-kind donations that helped us keep the teams well fed and hydrated. And last but not least, thanks to SFU Recreation and Athletics, Student Life Surrey, and Student Life Burnaby for helping us out with promotion and prizes for the participants!

The tournament was hotly contested, with a team comprised of SFU MBA students taking the overall crown. You can see pictures from the tourney on our SFU Vancouver Facebook page.

We hope to have our next tournament in the Fall, so keep an eye out and we look forward to get more and more students involved.
